FAQ

Fast answers on the route, the twelve shelters, stamps, medals, passports, self-guided attempts, and emergency communication.

Use the FAQ to decide how you want to approach the challenge: in one push, across multiple hikes, with support on the hard sections, or refuge by refuge at your own pace.

Route And Shelter Count

The 12 Refuge Challenge follows a 92.5 km circular route through twelve of Olympus' fourteen shelters: the better-known eastern refuges, the northern organised refuges, and emergency shelters on the west and south sides. The two shelters outside the challenge route are Ano Pigadi and KEOAX.

Logistics

There is no time limit for collecting all twelve stamps. To win medal recognition, complete the twelve shelters in one continuous hike for gold, in two hikes for silver, or within one year of the first stamp for bronze. Always confirm refuge openings, water, weather, and guide availability before relying on them.
